A survey has revealed that daily expenses in America have increased due to the Trump administration's tariff policy. 65% of citizens believe that the prices of groceries, electricity, water, and other essential goods have risen, putting pressure on household budgets.
Trump Tariff: A joint survey conducted by ABC News, Washington Post, and Ipsos in the United States has revealed that a large number of American citizens are feeling the impact of tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump in their daily lives. According to the survey, approximately 65 percent of American citizens believe that tariffs have led to an increase in prices and a higher cost of living. This figure indicates that the policy, which was implemented with the aim of making America economically b and prosperous, is now having the opposite effect on the public.
The stated objective of the tariffs was to protect American industries and promote local products. However, in reality, their impact is directly visible on daily expenditure lists. The effect is clearly being felt on everything from food and beverages to electricity, water, and other household necessities.
Increasing Tariff Pressure on Daily Life
Figures revealed in the survey show that seven out of ten American citizens reported having to spend more on groceries this year compared to last year. This situation is not limited to food items alone. According to the survey, six out of ten people claimed that their electricity and water bills have increased. Additionally, four out of ten citizens acknowledged an increase in the prices of basic necessities such as healthcare services, housing, and fuel.
This means that the tariff policy has directly affected ordinary families. Families with limited income or those already struggling to maintain financial balance are now facing even greater economic pressure. The most significant impact is on those who have to balance their household budget every month.
Political Reactions and Acknowledgments
The survey showed agreement on this situation not only among ordinary citizens but also among representatives of political parties. According to the figures, 89 percent of Democrats, 73 percent of Independents, and 52 percent of Republican leaders also acknowledged an increase in grocery prices. This is a significant indicator as it clarifies that the issue is not merely one of opposition or support. This economic impact is genuinely widespread and real.
Heavy Tariffs Imposed on India
The international impact of the tariff policy is also clearly visible. The Trump administration imposed heavy import duties on several countries, including India. Initially, a 25 percent tariff was levied on India. Subsequently, in August 2025, this duty was increased by an additional 25 percent, bringing the total to 50 percent. This tariff was imposed due to India's oil purchases from Russia. The Trump administration described it as an action fueling Russia's war capabilities.
This tariff has directly impacted India's exports to the United States. According to a report by the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI), India's exports to the US fell sharply by 37.5 percent from $8.8 billion to $5.5 billion between May and September 2025. This decline is considered one of the largest short-term trade reductions in recent times.
