New Delhi: India's Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan has issued a significant statement regarding 'Operation Sindoor', conducted against Pakistan. He said that the Indian armed forces have learned many crucial lessons after this operation. Now, there is a need to incorporate these lessons into a planned theaterization model. According to CDS Chauhan, India should possess b ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities, along with combat power, in every sector concerning Pakistan.

CDS Anil Chauhan was speaking at the India Defence Conclave 2025, organized by Bharat Shakti, a defence-related think tank. In his address, he stated that this situation is now like a new normal for the armed forces. He emphasized that the Indian Army must maintain b operational readiness at all times, as it is extremely crucial.

He stated that focus must be placed on strengthening air defence, dealing with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and enhancing electronic warfare capabilities. He suggested that future conflicts might be of this nature, therefore preparedness should be at the same level.
Technological Edge Over Adversaries is Crucial
In his statement, CDS Chauhan emphasized that technologically, India must always stay ahead of its adversaries. He noted that previous operations primarily targeted static objectives. However, future operations might require action against dynamic targets. For this shift, improvements in both technology and preparedness are essential.
Need for Changes in the Theaterization Model
Discussing joint commands, or theaterization, CDS Chauhan clearly stated that lessons learned after 'Operation Sindoor' should be incorporated into this model. He also pointed out that India has gained experience from situations like Uri, Balakot, Operation Sindoor, Galwan, Doklam, and COVID. All these experiences now need to be transformed into an organizational structure that can function effectively in every situation.
