Ayodhya is witnessing heightened religious activity ahead of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, with major Shiva temples across the city decorated with lights, flowers and religious displays. Large numbers of devotees are visiting the temples as religious ceremonies continue throughout the day.
The Nageshwarnath Temple has been specially decorated for the occasion, where preparations for a Kalash Yatra involving women participants have nearly been completed.
According to the organising committee, a large number of women dressed in traditional attire will participate in the Kalash Yatra. The procession will pass through various parts of the city amid devotional songs, conch shell sounds and religious chants.
Religious rituals and prayers have been underway in temple premises since morning. Devotees were seen standing in long queues for the darshan of Lord Shiva, while many families also visited the temple together.
Religious organisers said the Somnath Swabhiman Parv symbolises Indian culture, faith and spiritual unity. They said the event also aims to connect people with their religious traditions and cultural heritage.
The administration has made special security and traffic arrangements for the Kalash Yatra. Additional police personnel have been deployed to manage the crowds.
Local residents are also showing enthusiasm for the festival, with increased crowds reported in markets and around temple areas. Shops selling religious items have witnessed higher footfall.
Religious scholars said such events in a spiritual city like Ayodhya strengthen public faith. They also described the large participation of women as socially and culturally important.
The city is currently witnessing a devotional atmosphere as devotees await the Kalash Yatra and other religious programmes.
