The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has intensified its search for a new title sponsor for Team India. Following the termination of the contract with Dream11, the board is now set to enter into an agreement with a new partner.
Sports News: After its contract with Dream11 ended, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has accelerated its search for a new title sponsor for Team India. In the meantime, the board has also increased the base price for jersey sponsorship. According to reports, the sponsorship fee for a single match during bilateral series has now been set at ₹3.5 crore, and for multi-team tournaments like the Asia Cup, Champions Trophy, or World Cup, it is ₹1.5 crore.
With approximately 130 international matches scheduled to be played over the next three years, the BCCI expects to earn over ₹400 crore from jersey sponsorship.
Bidding to be held on September 16
The BCCI has made it clear that the new title sponsor for the Indian cricket team will be finalized on September 16. Companies will place bids on this occasion, and the one making the highest offer will have its logo displayed on the Team India jersey for the next three years. This time, the board has increased the base price for jersey sponsorship.
- Bilateral Series: ₹3.5 crore per match
- ICC and ACC Tournaments (World Cup, Asia Cup, Champions Trophy): ₹1.5 crore per match
This increase is approximately 10% higher than before. Previously, the board received ₹3.17 crore per match for bilateral series and ₹1.12 crore per match for multi-nation tournaments.
3-year contract, substantial earnings from 130 matches
This time, the BCCI has decided to opt for a longer three-year contract instead of an interim one. During this period, the Indian team will play approximately 130 international matches, including major tournaments like the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup. It is estimated that this contract will generate earnings of over ₹400 crore for the board.
Sponsors gain more advantage in bilateral series because the company's logo is displayed on the front of the jersey. In contrast, during ICC and ACC tournaments, the logo is shown only on the sleeves of the jersey. This is the reason why the sponsorship fee for bilateral matches has been set higher.
Why the contract with Dream11 ended?
Dream11 was the title sponsor for the Indian team, but the contract ended recently following the implementation of new laws related to online gaming. The board is now seeking a sponsor under the new regulations who can become a long-term, stable partner. The BCCI has imposed certain conditions on companies bidding for the sponsorship.
Betting, crypto, tobacco, and online gaming companies are not allowed to bid. Additionally, sports apparel (jersey manufacturing companies), banking, cold drinks, insurance, mixer-grinders, locks, fans, and some financial companies have also been excluded because the BCCI already has partners in these sectors.
