The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the BCCI is likely to be held in the last week of September. Elections will be held during this meeting for the positions of President, Secretary, Vice-President, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, and IPL Chairman. According to sources, the elections this time are also expected to be held through mutual consensus. This system was adopted in the last two elections as well. In this year's elections, major stakeholders and prominent leaders of cricket associations from across the country will play a decisive role.
Discussion on Potential President and Prominent Cricketer
Ever since the BJP government came to power at the center, there has been an emphasis on increasing the representation of players in sports associations. In the previous BCCI elections as well, the President was a cricketer. This time too, there is speculation that a major record-breaking cricketer could become the BCCI President. According to sources, this cricketer has also held discussions on this matter in England. However, it is not yet clear whether they have accepted this proposal.
Devjit Saikia, having completed a total of three years as Joint Secretary and Secretary, may continue in his position this time as well. Rohan Gonsalves (Joint Secretary) and Prabhatheja Bhatia (Treasurer) are also likely to retain their posts. For the position of IPL Chairman, former Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Naik and current Vice-President Rajeev Shukla are being discussed.
If Rajeev Shukla becomes the IPL Chairman again, then Bihar Cricket Association President and BJP leader Rakesh Tiwari could become a contender for the BCCI Vice-President post.
