Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel launched a sharp attack on the central government during a press conference on Friday. He questioned the policies of the central and state governments regarding trade relations with the United States, the issue of illegal infiltrators, and the statements of BJP leaders. Baghel stated that the current government is prioritizing commercial gains over national interests, which has damaged India's credibility.
Government Bowed Down to America
Bhupesh Baghel said that despite the imposition of 25 percent tariffs on India by former US President Donald Trump, the central government did not offer any concrete response. He said that India had never previously succumbed to American pressure, but the situation has changed today. He alleged that the government is neglecting the interests of friendly nations by prioritizing trade above all else. Baghel quipped that some people are even performing prayers for Trump's victory, which is against the dignity of the country.
Question on Action Against Illegal Infiltrators
Baghel cornered the central and state governments regarding 'Operation Sindoor.' He stated that the center had directed that illegal immigrants be sent back to Pakistan within three days, but 100 days have passed since the start of this campaign, and no results have been seen so far. He questioned how many illegal Pakistani citizens have been identified and how many have been deported from the country. He alleged that the state government itself is defying the orders of the center.
Targeted Bajrang Dal Too
Baghel also targeted Bajrang Dal, stating that this organization now considers itself above the law. He said that this is why state Home Minister Vijay Sharma had to publicly advise Bajrang Dal to exercise restraint. He said that the aim of these organizations is only to gain power, not to benefit the public.
Taunted Brijmohan Agrawal
Bhupesh Baghel also taunted BJP MP Brijmohan Agrawal, saying that he considers himself so brave that Prime Minister Modi hid under the table out of fear of him. He said that Brijmohan should go to the Prime Minister and tell him that he is with him and expose the false claims of a ceasefire in front of America.
Baghel's statements make it clear that Congress has adopted an aggressive stance against the policies of the central government amidst the changed political equations after 2024. This political rhetoric is likely to intensify in the coming times.
