Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is continuously making major announcements ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. On Friday (August 29, 2025), he announced another significant gift for women. The CM stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that since his government came to power in November 2005, it has worked extensively for women's empowerment.

Many important steps have been taken to make women empowered and self-reliant, the result of which is that today women are not only contributing to Bihar's progress with their hard work but are also strengthening their families' economic status.

A New Step Towards Women's Empowerment

Nitish Kumar stated in his X post that his government has taken several significant steps towards women's empowerment since November 2005. Whether it was increasing participation in Panchayats through reservation or bringing schemes for adolescent girls, efforts have been made at every level to strengthen women in society and family.

He further said that today women, with their hard work and self-reliance, are not only contributing to Bihar's progress but are also strengthening the economic foundation of their families. Carrying forward this mission, we have decided to launch the 'Chief Minister Mahila Rozgar Yojana'. This scheme will prove to be a milestone in the direction of women's empowerment in the state.

Key Features of the Chief Minister Mahila Rozgar Yojana

The government has also shared the outline and implementation process of this scheme. Let's look at its main features:

  • Initial Financial Assistance – A woman from each family in the state will receive the first installment of Rs 10,000 to start an employment of her choice.
  • Application Process – Interested women will be able to apply soon. This process will be managed by the Rural Development Department, with cooperation from the Urban Development and Housing Department.
  • Fund Transfer from September – The transfer of funds directly to the bank accounts of women will commence from September 2025.

New Employment Opportunities in the State

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that this scheme will not only strengthen the social and economic status of women but will also increase employment opportunities within the state. He emphasized that this scheme will provide better options to youth and women, preventing them from having to migrate out of the state in search of employment due to compulsion.

This announcement comes at a time when the Bihar elections are approaching. Political analysts believe that through this scheme, Nitish Kumar has attempted to woo women voters. The women's vote bank has always played a decisive role in Bihar.
