New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Japan, where he took part in the 15th Annual Summit between India and Japan. On this occasion, PM Modi stated that Japanese companies have invested over $40 billion in India. He described this as a symbol of the b partnership and mutual trust between India and Japan.
During the summit in Tokyo, Prime Minister Modi also interacted with the Indian diaspora and emphasized cooperation with Japan towards India's investment and development trajectory. Following this, PM Modi will depart for China on August 31st.
Over $40 Billion Investment in India
PM Modi said that the investment by Japanese companies in India exceeds $40 billion, with $30 billion in private investment occurring in the last two years. He asserted that India's rapidly growing economy and stable policy environment are conducive for investors.
Modi highlighted Japan's significant participation in several projects in India, including semiconductors, startups, manufacturing, and metros. He termed this as a reflection of the deep mutual trust between India and Japan.
India is the World's Fastest-Growing Economy
Prime Minister Modi stated that India has achieved unprecedented growth and economic stability over the past 11 years. Today, India is the world's fastest-growing major economy and is poised to become the third-largest economy globally soon.
He also mentioned that reforms in India are not limited to the tax system. The government has implemented a digital single-window approval system for businesses, making it easier for investors and companies to operate.
PM Modi Calls for Enhanced India-Japan Cooperation
PM Modi stated that the partnership between India and Japan in the automotive sector has been highly successful. He suggested that cooperation could also be expanded in areas such as batteries, robotics, semiconductors, shipbuilding, and nuclear energy.
He further added that India and Japan can jointly make significant contributions to the development of the Global South, especially Africa. The PM urged investors to come to India and build the world through partnership.
