The Ministry of Sports has decided to solicit public opinion on the draft National Sports Governance Act. The deadline for submitting feedback on this has been set for November 14.
Sports News: The Ministry of Sports has announced its decision to seek public opinion on the draft rules of the National Sports Governance Act 2025. The Ministry has published the draft rules for the National Sports Board (NSB), National Sports Tribunal (NST), and National Sports Election Panel (NSEP), formulated under this Act, on its website. The public and stakeholders have been given an opportunity to provide their feedback on these rules.
Deadline for Feedback
The Ministry has stated that the deadline for submitting feedback on these draft rules is November 14, 2025. All suggestions and comments can be sent to the Ministry via post or email at ‘[email protected]’. The Ministry aims to finalize these rules and implement the Act in the first half of 2026.
Objective of the Sports Governance Act 2025
The objective of the Sports Governance Act 2025 is to ensure transparency, ethics, and fairness in Indian sports administration. Through this Act, the Ministry aims to bring strict administrative and legal reforms to the country's sports organizations and competitive sports. The main objectives are as follows:
- Ensuring Ethical and Fair Play: Preventing fraud and unfair practices at all levels of sports.
- Protecting Athletes' Interests: Safeguarding the rights of athletes, considering them as primary stakeholders.
- Creating a Robust Sports Ecosystem: Establishing a sustainable, transparent, and competitive environment for sports in the country.
- Improving Dispute Resolution Mechanisms: Implementing a structured system for prompt and fair resolution of sports disputes.
The Ministry stated that these draft rules have been prepared for the successful implementation of the Act. They include detailed descriptions of the roles of the National Sports Board (NSB), the judicial powers of the National Sports Tribunal (NST), and the election processes of the National Sports Election Panel (NSEP).

Appeal for Feedback from Public and Stakeholders
The Ministry of Sports has appealed to all sports federations, athletes, coaches, officials, and sports enthusiasts to provide their feedback on the draft rules of this Act. The Ministry stated that the rules would be finalized after considering the comments from the general public and the sports community. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Sports Governance Act 2025 would enhance transparency, accountability, and the quality of sports administration in India.
He also mentioned that after the implementation of this Act, the functioning of national and state-level sports federations would improve, and better protection of athletes' interests would be ensured.

The Ministry has clarified that all received comments and suggestions will be analyzed after November 14, 2025. Subsequently, the rules for NSB, NST, and NSEP will be finalized, and the process to implement the Act will commence.
