Kanpur: A woman from the Babupurwa police station area has filed an FIR against seven of her in-laws, including her husband. The woman alleges that her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law subjected her to inhuman pressure in their desire for a son. According to the victim, she was forced to have two abortions, and her husband supported his in-laws in pressuring her to have illicit relations with her father-in-law and brother-in-law.
Considering the gravity of the matter, the police have initiated an investigation and are preparing to identify the accused and take action. Inspector Arun Kumar Dwivedi of Babupurwa police station stated that every aspect of the case is being investigated.
Abuse at In-laws' House
The victim informed the police that her in-laws began harassing her right after the marriage. Her husband pressured her to bring a car and cash from her parental home to start a business after quitting his job in Dubai. When this demand was not met, she faced mental and physical torture.
After the birth of her first child, a daughter, the behavior of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law completely changed. She was constantly taunted, and the innocent child was labeled a burden. Her sister-in-law threatened that if she didn't give birth to a son next time, her husband would be remarried.
Forced Abortions and Assault
The victim stated that when she became pregnant for the second and third times, her in-laws took her to a private hospital and forced her to abort upon discovering the fetus was a girl. This painful process completely affected the woman mentally and physically.
During her third pregnancy, the pressure to give birth to a son escalated to such an extent that her husband, along with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, pressured her to have illicit relations with her father-in-law and brother-in-law. When she resisted, the woman was brutally beaten.
Victim and Daughter Evicted from Home
The victim recounted that while her husband was hospitalized, her sister's husband (nandoi) entered the house and molested her. When she resisted, she and her infant daughter were brutally beaten and thrown out of the house. Following this heartbreaking incident, the victim went to the Babupurwa police station and filed an FIR.
Inspector Arun Kumar Dwivedi of Babupurwa police station stated that the allegations made by the victim are being seriously investigated. Necessary steps are being taken for legal action against the husband and in-laws. This case is a dreadful example of how the blind desire for a son can shatter the sanctity of relationships and humanity.
