Patna: A meeting of the Council of Ministers was held in Bihar on Tuesday, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, where 25 agendas were approved. The meeting approved an increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers. Now, workers will receive Rs 9000 and helpers Rs 4500 as monthly honorarium. Additionally, several proposals related to government employees were also agreed upon. This decision is considered significant in the direction of strengthening the state government's welfare approach and social fabric.
Honorarium for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Increased
The cabinet meeting approved an increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers. Now, workers will receive Rs 9000 per month and helpers Rs 4500. Previously, these amounts were Rs 7000 and Rs 4000 respectively. The new honorarium will be effective from October 1, 2025.
For this, the Social Welfare Department will have to bear an additional expenditure of Rs 345 crore 19 lakh annually. The government believes that this decision will improve the quality of Anganwadi services and provide economic relief to workers and helpers.
Jeevika Bhavan and Marriage Hall Scheme Approved
An allocation of Rs 73 crore 66 lakh has been approved for the construction of the Jeevika Headquarters building in Patna. This building will be constructed to accelerate rural development and women's self-reliance programs.
Furthermore, Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of marriage halls in 8053 Gram Panchayats under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Mandap Yojana. This will facilitate the organization of social events in rural areas.
3303 New Posts Created in Revenue Department
To reduce the workload in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, the creation of 3303 new revenue employee posts has been approved. These posts will incur an additional annual burden of Rs 121 crore 74 lakh on the state government.
The department had been demanding new posts for a long time. The government states that the new posts will enable the quick resolution of land-related matters and reduce the inconvenience for the general public.
Travel Allowance for Government Employees Increased
The cabinet has approved amendments to the travel allowance for government employees. The existing travel allowance rates have been increased, which will provide financial benefits to the employees.
This has been a long-standing demand of government employees. The government says that this decision will boost both the efficiency and morale of the employees.
LPG Crematoriums in Six Cities
Approval has been granted for the construction of LPG gas-based crematoriums in Patna, Gaya, Chhapra, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai. Their construction and operation will be undertaken by Isha Foundation, Coimbatore.
For this, the state government will provide land on a 33-year lease for a token amount of Re 1. The government states that these modern crematoriums will help in environmental conservation.
