Truck Tire Burst Leads to Fatal Accident on Patna-Buxar NH-922
Bihar: A heartbreaking road accident occurred on Monday morning in Dumraon, Bihar, leaving locals and passersby shocked. The horrific incident unfolded on the Patna-Buxar National Highway (NH-922) when a truck carrying sand suffered a sudden tire burst. The truck, subsequently out of control, collided with a stationary auto-rickshaw (Taylor) parked by the roadside. The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught fire.
Driver Trapped, Perishes in the Flames
The most tragic aspect of the accident was the death of the truck driver, Ravindra Kumar, who was trapped inside the burning cabin. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck's cabin immediately ignited upon impact. The intensity of the fire left the driver no chance of escape. Although the fire department was notified, Ravindra Kumar succumbed to his injuries before the fire could be controlled.
Swift Response from Local Administration and Fire Brigade
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Naya Bhojpur police station and Dial 112 teams arrived at the scene, along with the fire brigade. However, the fire was so intense that it took approximately an hour to extinguish. By then, the driver's body was severely burned. His lower abdomen was reduced to ashes, and his bones were fused to the steering wheel.
Identification of the Deceased
The deceased truck driver was identified as Ravindra Kumar, a resident of Chehri village in Maharajganj police station area, Uttar Pradesh. He was driving truck number BR-28 GA-9839, carrying sand from Koilwar and heading towards Uttar Pradesh. The accident occurred near Bhojpur Kothi.
Eyewitness Account of the Accident
Dinanath, the auto-rickshaw driver from Pakri Nonia village in Maharajganj district, who was present at the scene, stated that he had parked his auto-rickshaw by the roadside and gone to fetch water. A speeding truck suddenly collided with his vehicle from behind. Both vehicles immediately caught fire. The front of the truck and the rear wheels of the auto-rickshaw were completely destroyed by the fire.
Panic and Disruption Following the Accident
Following the incident, NH-922 experienced widespread panic and chaos. The fire and smoke spread rapidly, causing fear among other drivers. Traffic was disrupted for several hours, and a large crowd of locals gathered at the scene.
