Police Used Mild Force on March Led by Jansuraj Party in Bihar. Prashant Kishor Stated that the Government is Not Fulfilling Promises. The ₹2 Lakh Assistance Has Not Been Given Yet.
Jansuraj Protesters: In Patna, the capital of Bihar, police used mild force on Wednesday against a peaceful demonstration led by Jansuraj Party supporters and Prashant Kishor. The demonstration was organized against the alleged failures of the state government and its failure to fulfill promises made to the public. The protesters intended to march to the Legislative Assembly, but they were stopped midway.
Promise of Assistance to 9.4 Million Families Unfulfilled
Prashant Kishor alleged that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had promised to provide ₹2 lakh in assistance to poor families after the caste census. This announcement was made almost two years ago, but so far, not a single family has received this assistance. Kishor said that they wanted to peacefully convey the public's message to the Chief Minister, but the government refused to meet.
Attempts to Negotiate with the Government Fail
Prashant Kishor said in a media interaction that the government is not ready to meet with their representatives. He stated clearly that they would not back down until a government official engages in dialogue with them. He also stated that this is just the beginning of the fight and that the movement will intensify in the coming three months.
The Public Wants Change
Expressing the sentiments of the people of Bihar, Kishor said that people now want change. He stated that the people of Bihar are tired of corruption and deception in the name of good governance. He said that the government and the police cannot now avoid the questions of the public. This movement is a symbol of a new political consciousness in Bihar.
Direct Attack on Nitish Government
Prashant Kishor directly attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying that he cannot hide in the Legislative Assembly or behind the police. He said that the 9.4 million families whose economic condition the government talked about improving two years ago are now forced to take to the streets against the government's policies.
Police Clarification and Administration's Arguments
Patna's SP Diksha stated that the protesters were not allowed to proceed further because the area is restricted. She said that they are ready for dialogue, provided the protesters send a delegation and clarify their demands. If they violate the set boundaries, action will be taken according to the law.
Signature Campaign Forms the Foundation of the Movement
The Jansuraj Party clarified that this march was based on the signatures of one crore citizens of the state. These signatures were collected during a campaign led by Prashant Kishor over the past few months. One of the main three issues of this campaign was the government's failure to fulfill its promise of financial assistance. The caste survey clearly revealed that a large population of the state is economically weak. Despite this, the financial assistance announced by the government has not yet reached the grassroots level.
