BSNL has launched its 4G network in Delhi. The company is providing immediate coverage under the “4G-as-a-service” model. New customers can avail of the ‘Freedom Offer’ for just ₹1, which includes 2GB of data per day, unlimited calling, and SMS.
New Delhi: Government telecom company BSNL has finally launched 4G service in Delhi. This service is being provided through partner networks, which will provide fast internet coverage throughout the city. BSNL has also introduced a ₹1 ‘Freedom Offer’, in which new customers will get 2GB of high-speed data per day, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS. The company has already installed 1 lakh mobile towers across the country with an investment of ₹25,000 crore and is now planning to further strengthen the 4G network with an investment of ₹47,000 crore.
Launch on 4G-as-a-service Model
BSNL has stated that the 4G launch in Delhi has been done under the "4G-as-a-service" model. This means that those who have a BSNL SIM and whose mobile supports 4G can directly use this service. A key point is that the company has started this facility at a time when it is also setting up its own 4G network.
BSNL Chairman and MD A. Robert J. Ravi said that this step is a major move towards providing an immediate 4G experience to consumers and expanding the domestic network.
How to Benefit
Delhi customers who have 4G handsets can immediately take advantage of this service. For this, they will have to buy a new BSNL SIM and complete the e-KYC process. This process can be completed at BSNL and MTNL Customer Service Centers or at authorized retailers. Once the process is complete, customers will be able to use the 4G network without any delay.
Expansion of 4G Network Across the Country
With the launch in Delhi, BSNL is also rapidly advancing its plan for nationwide 4G network expansion. The company has already installed one lakh mobile towers with an investment of ₹25 thousand crore. The responsibility for this large project was given to the TCS and C-DoT-led consortium. In the coming times, BSNL is planning to invest another ₹47 thousand crore to strengthen 4G coverage across the country and provide a better experience to customers.
Freedom Offer for Just ₹1
With the launch of 4G service in Delhi, BSNL has also introduced a special offer for customers. It has been named the Freedom Offer. Under this offer, new customers can buy a new BSNL SIM for just ₹1 and get many benefits with it for a month.
This includes 2GB of high-speed data daily, unlimited calling to any number in India, and 100 free SMS every day. This offer will be available only from August 1 to August 31 and has been brought specifically keeping new customers in mind.
Comparison with Jio's Plans
While BSNL's Freedom Offer is available for just ₹1, the plans of private companies are much more expensive than this. For example, Jio's cheapest data pack is ₹19, in which customers get only 1GB of data for 1 day. This pack does provide access to regional OTTs like Sony Liv, Zee5, and Sun NXT, but it is limited to just one day.
Jio's monthly pack is ₹359, which provides 50GB of internet data for 30 days. In this regard, BSNL's new offer can prove to be very economical for customers.
New Options for Customers
After the launch of 4G service in Delhi, customers now have a new option. Until now, only private operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea were providing high-speed internet services. With the arrival of BSNL, competition will increase, and consumers are also expected to get cheaper and better plans. Especially for customers who want more data at a lower price, this move by BSNL can prove to be a big attraction.
