Chhattisgarh High Court has permitted a student lodged in Raipur Central Jail to appear for the Re-NEET 2026 examination scheduled on June 21. The court directed the police and jail administration to escort the student to the examination centre under security arrangements and return him to jail after the examination.
The student, who is in judicial custody in connection with a criminal case registered at Khamtarai Police Station in Raipur, had approached the High Court seeking permission to appear for the examination. Counsel representing the student informed the court that he intended to appear for the NEET-2026 re-examination and that his admit card had already been issued.
Hearing the matter on an urgent basis, Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha granted permission for the student to take the examination. The court directed that the student be taken to the examination centre under police protection and returned to jail after the examination concludes.
The court also instructed the jail administration to provide the student with study materials required under applicable rules so that he can prepare for the examination.
Preparations for the Re-NEET examination scheduled on June 21 have been intensified across the state. District administrations and police authorities are reviewing arrangements to ensure the secure and smooth conduct of the examination.
In Bilaspur district, Collector Sanjay Agrawal and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh inspected various examination centres. A total of 19 examination centres have been established in the district. Officials reviewed security arrangements, traffic management plans and contingency measures in the event of rainfall.
In view of controversies and paper leak incidents associated with examinations in previous years, additional security measures have been implemented. Authorities have increased monitoring at examination centres and made arrangements for the secure distribution of examination materials.
SIMS Medical College Hospital has launched a 24-hour mental health helpline for candidates appearing in the examination. Through the service, students can seek guidance from specialists and receive assistance in cases of examination-related stress or anxiety.
According to officials, the initiative has been introduced to support students and help them remain mentally prepared for the examination.
South East Central Railway has also introduced special arrangements in anticipation of increased passenger movement during the examination period. The railway administration has decided to attach a total of 40 additional general coaches to 10 trains. Special MEMU train services will also be operated for the convenience of candidates.
Railway officials stated that the measures are intended to help students reach examination centres on time and reduce crowding on trains. The railway administration has advised students and their guardians to plan travel in advance and obtain information on train schedules and stoppages through official channels.
For the Re-NEET examination scheduled on June 21, a total of 127 examination centres have been established across 19 cities in Chhattisgarh. Special arrangements have been made to ensure the secure transportation of examination materials to the centres. Authorities stated that all necessary measures are being taken to conduct the examination in a transparent, fair and orderly manner.
The coordinated efforts of the state government, administration, railway authorities and the health department are aimed at ensuring that every candidate can appear for the Re-NEET 2026 examination without difficulty.
