ACB/EOW has filed a seventh chargesheet against Chaitanya Baghel in the Chhattisgarh liquor scam, alleging transactions of ₹200-250 crore. The chargesheet details his network and financial involvement across 3,800 pages.
Chhattisgarh: The name of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has surfaced in the alleged liquor scam in Chhattisgarh. The Anti-Corruption Bureau/Economic Offences Wing (ACB/EOW) filed its seventh supplementary chargesheet in the case in a special court on Monday. The chargesheet claims that Chaitanya Baghel received ₹200 crore to ₹250 crore as his share of the alleged earnings from the scam.
Allegations in the 3,800-page document
According to the ACB/EOW, the 3,800-page document accuses Chaitanya Baghel in the alleged scam worth over ₹3,000 crore. The chargesheet alleges that Chaitanya played a key role in creating, coordinating, and protecting an extortion racket within the Excise Department. A total of eight chargesheets have been filed in the case so far.
Managing funds in the scam
The chargesheet states that Chaitanya Baghel used his trusted network to handle and transfer the proceeds of the alleged scam. Funds were allegedly channeled upwards through this network. He is accused of receiving his share of the money through several companies owned by liquor businessman Trilok Singh Dhillon and investing it in businesses and real estate ventures run by his family through banking channels.
Assistance from family and associates

The ED stated that Chaitanya allegedly managed large sums of money through banking channels and investments. This involved his family, friends, and associates. The Enforcement Directorate raided his residence and detained him on July 18th. The chargesheet claims that the scam caused significant losses to the state treasury while benefiting the liquor syndicate.
BJP raises serious allegations
Meanwhile, BJP President J.P. Nadda on Monday accused the Congress of being involved in facilitating the 2013 Jhiram Valley Naxal attack. He claimed that people within the state Congress were complicit in the murders of Congress leaders and were in contact with Naxalites.
Bhupesh Baghel’s response
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel bly refuted the allegations. He stated that the BJP President has insulted the martyrs of the Jhiram incident. He suggested that security agencies, including the NIA, should investigate J.P. Nadda and demand evidence for his claims. Bhupesh Baghel said that the BJP is disrespecting the sacrifice of the martyrs by leveling allegations of collusion.
The ACB/EOW chargesheet indicates large-scale financial irregularities during the liquor trade in Chhattisgarh. The alleged scam, worth over ₹3,000 crore, has raised serious questions about the state’s financial structure and administrative transparency.
According to the chargesheet, Chaitanya Baghel was not limited to merely benefiting from the scam but also played a key role in organizing and operating the network. It is alleged that the syndicate could not have operated on such a large scale without his intervention.
