Meerut/Uttarakhand: A major child trafficking case has been uncovered in a joint operation by the police. A 3-month-old son was abducted from a family in Amroha, in Kaliyar (Uttar Pradesh). The child was later sold to a businessman in Meerut for 6 lakh rupees.
The incident unfolded as follows:
Zaheer Ansari had gone to Kaliyar for a pilgrimage with his wife Shama and their 3-month-old son, Abuzar.
They were sleeping in front of a guesthouse at night. In the morning, when Zaheer went to get tea, he returned to find his son missing.
After examining CCTV footage and conducting an investigation, the police found that the child had been put into a Scorpio vehicle and taken to Meerut.
Kaliyar police took three accused — Salma, Shahnawaz, and Ashu — into custody. They revealed that they had sold the child to businessman Vishal Gupta.
Vishal Gupta told the police that he had been unable to have children for the past 12 years, which is why he intended to buy this child.
Among those involved in the child trafficking, 2 lakh rupees were distributed to each accused, and the funds were utilized in various ways.
The police safely rescued child Abuzar from the house of the accused businessman Vishal Gupta.
All the accused have been sent to judicial custody by Kaliyar police, and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
