Maharajganj: A Chinese national has been sentenced to one year in jail and fined by a local court for illegally entering India through the India-Nepal border. According to the prosecution, the accused entered Indian territory from Nepal without a valid visa and documentation.
The security forces stationed at the border apprehended him during a check near the Sonouli border, where he was questioned but could not produce any valid documents to justify his presence. Subsequently, a case was registered against him under the Foreigners Act.
After finding all charges proven during the hearing, the Chief Judicial Magistrate ordered the accused to serve one year of simple imprisonment and pay a fine of five thousand rupees. The court also clarified that the accused would have to undergo an additional three months of imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
This action at the border is being seen as a result of the vigilance of security agencies, which are continuously monitoring illegal entries and suspicious activities.
