Bahraich, September 28, 2025 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Bahraich district, which has been affected by recent wolf attacks, and met with the victim families. He announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
What Happened
The Chief Minister inspected Manjhara, Taukli, and Kaiserganj villages and distributed relief materials to the affected people. He directed the Forest Department and the Police to keep a close watch on the wolves' movements and to promptly control potential threats. “If the wolf can be captured, that is better; otherwise, have it eliminated with a gun,” he stated, to ensure the safety of the people. Night patrols were increased, security systems were tightened at intersections in sensitive areas, and lights were installed on more than 2,000 roads.
Social and Administrative Impact
The state government has classified these attacks as a disaster to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts. The administration has formed 21 task forces that are working to increase vigilance in villages, conduct awareness campaigns, and monitor security
measures. The Chief Minister also stated that all affected families would be provided with solid housing, doors, toilets, and other facilities.
