C.P. Radhakrishnan Nominated as NDA's Vice Presidential Candidate

Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan has been nominated by the NDA as its candidate for the post of Vice President. BJP President JP Nadda made the announcement. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulated him and expressed his support. The India alliance has not yet decided on a candidate.

Maharashtra: Governor chosen by NDA. BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda announced in a press conference on Sunday that Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan will be the NDA's candidate for the post of Vice President. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulated Radhakrishnan and supported him. This position became vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation.

Nitish Kumar Expressed Support

CM Nitish Kumar wrote through a social media post, "The decision to make Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan Ji, the Governor of Maharashtra, the NDA's candidate for the post of Vice President is welcome. JDU is fully in support of him. Best wishes to him." This statement from Nitish made it clear that all the major parties included in the NDA are united in this election.

C.P. Radhakrishnan's Administrative Experience

Chandrapuram Ponnusami Radhakrishnan, a native of Tamil Nadu, has been the 24th Governor of Maharashtra since July 2024. His administrative experience as Governor and coordination with constitutional institutions makes him a suitable candidate for the post of Vice President.

Experts believe that Radhakrishnan's election is strategically important for the NDA. His administrative experience and impartial approach will be helpful in maintaining the dignity of the office of Vice President.

Name Selected Unanimously in NDA

JP Nadda informed that after discussions and suggestions with all the constituent parties included in the NDA, all parties agreed on the name of C.P. Radhakrishnan. He said, "All the parties welcomed Radhakrishnan Ji as a candidate. We are confident that he will maintain the dignity of the office of Vice President with his experience and leadership ability."

The BJP, JDU, and other allies included in the NDA fully supported Radhakrishnan's name. In this way, the political suspense regarding the NDA's candidate for the post of Vice President ended.

Why did the post of Vice President become vacant?

Political discussions had been going on for a long time regarding the post of Vice President. On the first day of the monsoon session, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned from his post. This vacated the post of Vice President and increased the suspense among all the political parties regarding the candidates.

Several names were considered for this position in the NDA. Finally, C.P. Radhakrishnan was chosen unanimously. Political analysts are considering this as a result of balance in the alliance and cooperation of all the parties.

India Alliance's Stance

While the NDA has announced its candidate, the India alliance has not yet revealed its candidates. Analysts believe that the India alliance may take a strategic decision in the Vice Presidential election and will select a candidate keeping in mind the political balance.

Importance of the Post of Vice President

In India, the post of Vice President is extremely important from a constitutional point of view. The Vice President not only acts as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha but also discharges the constitutional duties of the President in his absence. The impartiality and administrative ability of the person selected for this post are important for the quality of Parliament and the democratic process.
