New Delhi: The NDA has announced Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the post of Vice President. This announcement was made by BJP President JP Nadda, after which a period of political rhetoric commenced. NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar reacted sharply to this decision.
He said that Radhakrishnan is considered very close to the RSS and BJP and was appointed to Maharashtra under a specific strategy. Pawar said that while they congratulate him, it also raises the question of what happened to the current Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Rohit Pawar's Statement: Close Ties to RSS and BJP
Rohit Pawar said that Radhakrishnan is considered very close to the RSS and BJP. He alleged that he was brought to Maharashtra under a specific political strategy. Pawar said, "We congratulate him, but the question arises as to what happened to the current Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. His role is being ignored."
Pawar also said that Radhakrishnan was appointed to Maharashtra to control the rising wave of discontent there. He also mentioned Jagdeep Dhankhar and the role of the opposition. Pawar said, "Jagdeep Dhankhar had accepted the opposing proposal without asking the government.
The President and Vice President belong to everyone, but the ruling party considers them to be under their control. The BJP expects the new CP Radhakrishnan to follow their lead. However, it remains to be seen what Dhankhar Sahib's stance will be when he comes."
Questions on the Impartiality of the Election Commission
Rohit Pawar also raised questions about the impartiality of the Election Commission. He said that the Election Commission is a constitutional body, but today it is working as an extended department of the BJP. Pawar alleged that the commission does not give clear answers when asked for evidence, but rather confuses the public with complex uses of language.
He said, "If you have evidence, present it clearly. That is why the Election Commission should give clear answers not in the national language, but in technical language."
Support for the Opposition and Rahul Gandhi
Rohit Pawar said that Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders are not afraid of the threats from the Election Commission. He insisted that today even the common man is not afraid because the public has understood that there is a large interference of the BJP in the functioning of the Election Commission. Pawar emphasized the importance of democratic institutions, saying that it is against the spirit of the constitution if the voice of the opposition is suppressed.
He emphasized respect for democracy and institutions, stating that both the opposition and ordinary citizens should have the right to raise their voices freely.
