Commuters on Delhi and Noida Metro will no longer need two apps. DMRC and NMRC have jointly launched a QR ticketing system. Passengers can now purchase tickets for both metros through a single app.
Metro Rule: Great news for passengers traveling between Delhi and Noida by metro. The hassle of getting tickets from separate apps for both Delhi Metro (DMRC) and Noida Metro (NMRC) will now end. Passengers will now get QR tickets from just one app. This will save time and effort for daily commuters.
NMRC and DMRC's Major Decision
Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have jointly introduced this facility. Under this decision, tickets for Delhi Metro can now be purchased on the NMRC app, and tickets for Noida Metro will also be available on DMRC's Sarathi app. This means it is now possible to buy tickets for both networks from a single mobile application.
QR Tickets to Simplify Travel
NMRC MD Lokesh M informed that passengers can now travel on Delhi and Noida Metro with just one QR code. Passengers will not need to purchase separate tickets for this. These QR tickets can be purchased using payment modes such as net banking, credit card, debit card, and UPI.
No More Hassle of Two Tickets
Until now, passengers faced a difficulty. Noida Metro runs from Sector 51 to Greater Noida Depot. To travel from Delhi to Greater Noida, passengers had to disembark at Sector 52 metro station on the Blue Line and then continue their journey from Sector 51 metro station on NMRC's Aqua Line. During this transit, passengers had to obtain a separate ticket. However, this hassle has now been eliminated.
How Tickets Were Obtained Previously
It is worth noting that until now, tickets for traveling on the Delhi Metro had to be purchased through DMRC's Sarathi app. For traveling on the Noida Metro, the NMRC app had to be used. This meant passengers had to install separate apps, and ticket booking also took more time. Now, this entire process has been simplified.
Significant Benefits for Passengers
This facility has brought relief, especially to those who travel daily between Delhi and Noida. Traveling with a single QR ticket will not only save time but also make ticket booking faster and more secure through the digital payment system. Additionally, passengers will be freed from the inconvenience of downloading separate apps and repeatedly purchasing tickets.
The Entire Network to be Connected by Technology
Both DMRC and NMRC are moving towards a common ticketing system. This opens up possibilities for integrating more metro networks in the future. This initiative is considered a significant step towards Digital India and a smart transportation system.
This decision is also important because the metro is a daily necessity for millions of people in Delhi-NCR. Office-going employees, students, and the general public use this route daily. Therefore, simplifying and digitizing the ticketing system is a major priority for the government and metro administration.
