Kota Police Arrest 9 in Ahmedabad Businessman Kidnapping, Recover Rs 1 Crore in Ransom

Kota Police arrested 9 members of a gang that kidnapped a businessman from Ahmedabad and extorted Rs 1 crore along with jewelry. Rs 26 lakh in cash and 25 tolas of gold and silver jewelry were recovered from the accused.

Kota: In the Kota district of Rajasthan, police have arrested 9 members of a notorious gang involved in kidnapping a businessman from Ahmedabad and extorting Rs 1 crore in ransom along with gold and silver jewelry. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Gujarat Police. This success was achieved through the astute planning of the Ahmedabad Police and the active involvement of the Kota Police.

Kidnapping of Ahmedabad Businessman

According to information, Ajay Singh Rajput, a land dealer residing in Ahmedabad, was kidnapped on September 9 by four to five miscreants traveling in a car. The miscreants demanded Rs 26 lakh in cash and 25 tolas of gold and silver jewelry from the businessman's wife. Subsequently, they released him on the road after threatening to kill him, and the robbers fled. Following this incident, the Ahmedabad Police immediately launched an investigation.

SP Kota Tejaswani Gautam stated that the miscreants had come to Kota in a self-driving car from Ahmedabad. The car was equipped with GPS, which greatly assisted the police in tracking their location. The accused were planning to escape after parking their car near a multi-storied building in the Kunhadi area.

Ahmedabad Police apprehends four members of the kidnapping gang

On the morning of September 10, the Ahmedabad Police contacted the Kota Police and informed them that the gang's car had been sighted in the Rajat Platina City area. Kunhadi Station House Officer Arvind Bhardwaj and the Special Team immediately went into alert mode. The police cordoned off the flat and took four accused, along with a young man and woman, into custody. One accused managed to escape by jumping from the flat, but the police blocked other escape routes and initiated efforts to apprehend him.

The police reported that all the accused have previous criminal cases registered against them. After their arrest, they were handed over to the Ahmedabad Police.

Identification of the arrested accused

The police have identified the arrested accused as follows:

  • Shivam Singh Tomar (Ahmedabad)
  • Suraj Chauhan (Agra)
  • Aman Bhadauria (Ahmedabad)
  • Sangram Singh Sikarwar (Ahmedabad)
  • Rishi Bhole Singh (Ahmedabad)
  • Varun Bagela (Ahmedabad)
  • Ranjeet Thakur (Ahmedabad)
  • Apeksha (Jamnagar)

SP Tejaswani Gautam further informed that cash, jewelry, and the car used in the crime were recovered from the possession of the accused.

Police are investigating

The Kota Police stated that this success was a result of excellent coordination between the Ahmedabad Police and the Kota Police. The police are now investigating the previous criminal activities of this gang and whether they were planning any further crimes. Additionally, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other absconding members.

Police officials appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to the local police. This case also highlights the crucial importance of coordination among state police departments in preventing inter-state crimes.
