Delhi Police Apprehends Notorious Sharpshooter in Azadpur Mandi Encounter; Gang Members Injured

In an encounter between the police and criminals at Delhi's Azadpur Mandi, sharpshooter Ankit, associated with the Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan gangs, was arrested. The accused was found with a pistol, cartridges, and a mobile phone. Ankit was injured in the retaliatory firing, and a policeman was also injured and admitted to the hospital.

Delhi Police Encounter: An encounter took place between the police and criminals in the Azadpur Mandi area of Delhi on Monday morning, resulting in the arrest of Ankit, an active sharpshooter from the Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan gangs. During the shootout, the criminals fired three bullets at the police team, but bulletproof jackets saved the officers' lives. Ankit was injured in the retaliatory firing and taken into custody on the spot. In this encounter, one police personnel also sustained a head injury and was admitted to the hospital. The police recovered a pistol, cartridges, a mobile phone, and two chits from the possession of the accused.

Criminal and Policeman Injured in Encounter

Details of the Arrested Sharpshooter

According to the police, the arrested sharpshooter Ankit is a resident of Bhiwani, Haryana, and was planning to extort money in the Delhi-NCR region through threats and firing. A pistol, three cartridges, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle were recovered from the accused. The police stated that this gang has been active in several criminal activities, and Ankit is an important member.

Chits Recovered by Police 

During the investigation, two chits were also found with the accused, bearing the names 'Rohit Godara' and 'Virendra Charan.' The plan was to discard these at the scene after the firing. The criminal record of the accused has been reviewed, and a case has been registered against both, initiating legal proceedings.
