Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's prominent Deobandi scholar and patron of Jamaat Daawatul Muslimeen, Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora, has expressed serious concern over the increasing deviation of daughters within the Muslim community. He clarified that daughters moving away from their homes, families, and faith is not due to a lack of education, but rather a deficiency in proper upbringing and a conducive family environment.

In a released video message, Maulana Gora stated that various discussions take place in society regarding this issue. Some attribute the deviation of daughters to excessive studies or the impact of education, while others link it to greater freedom. However, he asserts that the real reason is not this.

Emphasis on Upbringing, Not Just Education

Deobandi Scholar Warns of Upbringing Deficiencies as Cause for Daughters' Deviation

Maulana Ishaq Gora said, "Families work hard to provide their children with worldly education, but they do not pay as much attention to inculcating values, moral, and religious upbringing." He illustrated this by stating that anger is often used when trying to reason with siblings today. He said,

'If one is only being explained through anger and scolding, it reflects a lack of love and wisdom. Restricting daughters is not the solution. Rather, building a friendly relationship with them, listening to their concerns, instilling trust, and providing proper upbringing is the right approach.'

Maulana Gora reiterated that educating daughters is not a danger, but neglecting their upbringing is the real threat. There should be a safe and loving atmosphere within the family, allowing daughters to make the right decisions themselves.

Daughters are Leaving Home and Adopting Other Religions

Maulana Ishaq Gora appealed to Muslim families to create a home environment where security, love, trust, and respect are felt. He said that religious and moral education should be made a priority within the family once again. He clarified, "When upbringing is b at home, no external force will be able to lead daughters down the wrong path. The family's role is most important in the proper guidance of daughters in society."

In recent years, reports have emerged from various parts of the country of some girls leaving home and adopting other religions. According to Maulana Gora, the main reasons for this are social media, mobile phones, friendships, and changing lifestyles.
