Bus Carrying Pilgrims Collides with Truck in Deoghar; 18 Dead, 20 Injured. Pilgrims were Traveling to Baba Baidyanath Dham to Offer Water.
Deoghar Accident: A major road accident occurred in the Deoghar district of Jharkhand during the Kanwar Yatra of the Shravan month. A bus carrying Kanwariyas (pilgrims) to offer water at Baba Baidyanath Dham collided head-on with a truck. The accident was so devastating that 18 pilgrims died on the spot, while more than 20 people were injured. The accident took place near Jamunia Mod in the Mohanpur police station area at around 5:30 am. With the help of the police and local people, the injured were immediately sent to the hospital. The accident has spread a wave of mourning in the entire area.
Tragic Accident in the Early Morning
On Tuesday morning, around 5:30 am, a massive road accident occurred near Jamunia Mod on the Godda-Deoghar main road in the Deoghar district of Jharkhand. The accident happened when a bus full of Kanwariyas and a speeding truck collided head-on. The impact was so severe that the bus was completely shattered, and many people on board were seriously injured.
18 Pilgrims Died on the Spot
A total of 18 Kanwariyas have died in the accident. All these pilgrims were traveling to offer water at Baba Baidyanath Dham. The process of identifying the deceased is underway, and their families are being informed. An atmosphere of chaos prevailed in the area after the accident.
More Than 20 Pilgrims Injured
With the help of local people and the police, the injured were sent to Mohanpur Community Health Center (CHC). The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical, and they have been referred to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for better treatment. A team of doctors is constantly engaged in providing treatment.
Police and Administration Launched Relief Operation
As soon as the information about the incident was received, Mohanpur Police Station In-charge Priyaranjan reached the spot with the police team. Relief and rescue operations were started with the help of local people. The police closed the road for some time, controlled the traffic, and sent the injured to the hospital in ambulances on priority.
Local MP Expressed Grief
The local MP of Deoghar and BJP leader Nishikant Dubey expressed deep sorrow over this accident. He wrote through social media, "The death of 18 people in the accident between a bus and a truck carrying pilgrims on Kanwar Yatra during the Shravan month in my Lok Sabha constituency Deoghar is extremely sad. May Baba Baidyanath give strength to the bereaved families to bear this sorrow."
Accident During Kanwar Yatra
Every year in the month of Sawan, lakhs of devotees reach Deoghar from different parts of North India. They travel on foot with Ganga water and offer it at the Baba Baidyanath temple. This journey is considered a symbol of religious faith, and many devotees come to Deoghar in groups or in private vehicles. This time also, thousands of Kanwariyas are reaching Deoghar. The pilgrims who were victims of the accident were also on the Kanwar Yatra, and this tragic accident happened during that time.
