Dharamshala Flood: Rescue Operations Hampered by Heavy Rain, Six Dead

The situation in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, has become uncontrollable after torrential rains and a cloudburst. The flash flood in the Manuni Khad of Kangra district has claimed six lives so far, while two laborers are still missing. On Friday, another body was recovered on the third day, but it could not be identified. Relief and rescue operations are continuously underway at the site, but the weather is constantly hindering the work of the relief teams.

NDRF, local administration, and police teams are engaged in the rescue operation, but the search operation is being repeatedly halted due to the rain. Of the six bodies recovered so far, five have been identified. The administration has appealed to people to stay away from rivers and streams. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of more rain in the coming days, which could worsen the situation. Relief camps have been set up for the affected people, and the administration has assured all possible help.

Administration Engaged in Rescue Operation

The situation has become uncontrollable due to the floods that followed continuous rainfall in Dharamshala. The administration has taken charge to search for the people who have gone missing since the flood. ASP Aditi Singh said that the search operation is being carried out on a war footing. Employees associated with the power project, whose lives were in danger, have been moved to safe places.

The district administration has given top priority to relief and rescue operations. Two teams of SDRF and one unit of Home Guard are stationed at the site. Officials are continuously monitoring the situation and have said that the rescue operation will continue until all the missing people are found. The monitoring of the flood-affected area by the local administration has also been increased so that any emergency situation can be dealt with.

Rain Becomes a Hindrance in Rescue

The sudden floods in Dharamshala have made the situation very serious. Relief and rescue operations are going on a war footing, but bad weather has become the biggest challenge for the relief teams. Another body was recovered on Monday, but it was not possible to bring the body down due to heavy rain and poor visibility. So far, a total of six bodies have been found, while two people are still missing.

ASP Aditi Singh informed that the ongoing rain has also disrupted the connectivity of the area, which is affecting the relief operation. However, the administration has intensified the search operation and is searching for the missing people with full force. Officials say that as soon as the weather clears, the rescue operation will be further intensified. Meanwhile, an alert has been issued in the affected areas and local people have been advised to stay in safe places.
