Jammu Accident: Seven people died and dozens were injured in a tragic road accident in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The accident occurred on Tuesday morning on the Doda-Barath road in the Ponda area when a tempo traveler (JK06-4847) veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge. Upon receiving information about the accident, the local administration, police, and rescue teams reached the spot and initiated rescue operations.

How the Accident Happened

On Tuesday morning, a tempo traveler was carrying passengers from Doda towards Barath. As the vehicle approached the Ponda area, the driver lost control, and the tempo plunged directly into the deep gorge. Due to the depth of the gorge and the dangerous terrain, the tempo was severely damaged. According to eyewitnesses, the accident was so horrific that many people died on the spot.

Panic at the Scene

Panic erupted in the area after the accident. Local villagers immediately rushed to the scene and began relief efforts. Soon after, the police, ambulances, and disaster relief teams also arrived at the scene. The work of extracting passengers trapped in the tempo began.

Deaths and Condition of the Injured

According to the local administration, the deaths of seven people have been confirmed so far. In addition, 10 to 15 passengers have been injured and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be serious. However, the final number of deaths and injuries is still unclear as rescue operations are still ongoing.

Rescue Operations Intensified, Health Services Active

The police and rescue teams that arrived at the scene immediately started rescue operations with the help of local people. The injured were brought up from the gorge with the help of stretchers and ropes. They were given immediate first aid and sent to the nearest district hospital. In addition, preparations are being made to airlift some of the injured to Jammu.

Appeal and Warning from the Administration

The District Magistrate of Doda expressed grief over the accident and conveyed condolences. He assured all possible help to the injured. He also appealed to people to exercise special caution while traveling in hilly areas and to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather or at night.
