This summary is created by Google's Artificial Intelligence (AI), so there will also be a note at the bottom indicating that there may be some errors. If users wish, they can click on the link provided to read the full article on a trusted website. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who want to save time on mobile devices and quickly get the main points.
How will this feature work?
According to reports, this new feature will appear as a new card on Google Discover.
- The cover image on this card will be from the top story.
- The title, publication name, and date/time will also be displayed.
- Above this, you will see several small icons indicating the number of sources used to create the summary.
If users tap on these icons, they can read the news article on its original source.
Bookmarking will also be easier now
Google has included another essential feature in this update – a bookmarking (Save) button.
- This button will appear between the heart and the overflow menu.
- By tapping on it, you can bookmark any summary.
- This content will later be saved in your bookmark activity tab.
With this feature, you can now save your favorite news articles for future reference without having to search for them repeatedly.
Better use of AI technology
Google Search has already introduced a feature called AI Overviews, which uses AI to generate answers to complex questions. Now, AI is being used with the same intent in the Discover Feed.
The main objectives are:
