Delhi University Students' Union Elections Scheduled for September 18th

The Delhi University Students' Union elections will be held on September 18th. Voting will take place at separate times for day and evening classes. Counting of votes will be on September 19th, with nominations due by September 10th.

DU Election: Delhi University (DU) has announced the date for the Students' Union elections. Polling will be held on September 18th, and the counting of votes will be completed on September 19th, after which the results will be released. The university has released the complete schedule related to nomination, polling, and counting.

Voting Date and Time

According to the DU notification, voting for day classes will be held from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Evening class students will be able to cast their votes from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This arrangement has been made keeping in mind the convenience of the students so that more and more students can participate in the voting.

Nomination Process and Deadline

For candidates wishing to participate in the student union elections, the last date for nominations has been fixed as September 10th until 3:00 PM. Along with the nomination, candidates will have to deposit a demand draft of ₹500 (annual fee) and a bond of ₹1 lakh.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on September 10th itself at 3:15 PM. After the completion of the scrutiny, the initial list of nominated candidates will be published by 6:00 PM.

Withdrawal of Nomination and Final List

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 11th until 12:00 PM. After this, the final list of candidates will be released on the same day by 5:00 PM. This list will include all the candidates who will remain in the electoral fray.

Where to Submit Nominations

Nomination papers for the posts of DU Student Union (DUSU) will be submitted at the office of the Chief Election Officer in the Convention Center, located in the North Campus, opposite the Department of Botany.
Nomination papers for the Central Council seats will have to be submitted in the respective colleges or departments only.

Election-related Rules and Guidelines

The notification states that the code of conduct, the formation of DUSU, the Supreme Court's orders on student union elections, and other related guidelines are available on the university's official website. Students and candidates are appealed to follow all the rules during the election process.

Counting of Votes and Results

The counting of votes will be held the next day after the polling, i.e., on September 19th. After the counting process is completed, the names of the winning candidates will be announced. The university administration has assured that the entire election process will be conducted in a transparent and peaceful environment.
