Voting will take place on Thursday, September 18, with the results to be announced on September 19. This year, a total of 9 candidates are contesting for the president's post, including three women. Earlier, Nupur Sharma became president in 2008, and this record is likely to be challenged this time.
Student organizations have campaigned across the university in support of their candidates. Independent candidates have also been vigorously campaigning. Special attention is being given to women candidates, and their voting results could bring a significant change in the election outcomes.
Who is Contesting for the President Post
This year, there are 9 candidates for the post of Delhi University Students' Union President. Their names are: Anjali, Anuj Kumar, Aryan Maan, Divyanshu Singh Yadav, Josline Nandita Choudhary, Rahul Kumar, Umanshi, Yogesh Meena, and Abhishek Kumar.
Among them, three are women candidates, and this election is considered a challenge to a 17-year-old record. The choices of the students will play a crucial role this time.
Voting Time and Procedure
Voting will be held on September 18 from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM. All students casting their vote must bring their University or College ID card. First-year students without an ID card must show their verified fee receipt along with a voter ID, Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license.
On the day of the election, the university has permitted vehicles with authorized stickers to enter through Gate Number 1. However, vehicular movement will be restricted on Student Path, Probin Road, and University Road on September 18 and 19.
Security Arrangements: Police at Every Corner
Strict security arrangements have been made for the DUSU elections. North District DCP Raja Banthia stated that approximately 600 police personnel will be deployed across various parts of the campus. For security, CCTV cameras and body-worn cameras will be used by personnel. Additionally, surveillance will also be conducted using drone cameras.
Some routes may be diverted, and some may be closed, particularly Student Path, which could be closed to vehicles tomorrow. These measures are all intended to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully and fairly.

Furthermore, GC Narang Marg and Cavalry Lane will be completely closed on September 19 to avoid any hindrance to vote counting and security arrangements.
