Delhi University Students' Union Elections 2025 Underway: Record Turnout Expected

Voting is underway on Thursday for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections 2025. Students from 52 colleges are casting their votes. This time, 21 candidates are in the fray. 2.75 lakh students will vote, and the counting will take place on September 19.

DUSU Elections 2025: The voting process for the Delhi University Students' Union, DUSU, elections 2025 began on Thursday, September 18. Votes will be cast from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Students from a total of 52 colleges are participating in this election. They are exercising their right to vote for the Central Panel and College Counselor positions.

21 Candidates in the Fray

This year, 21 candidates are contesting for four main positions in the DUSU elections. Student organizations are actively showcasing their presence on campus with great enthusiasm. The fate of the candidates depends today on the votes of the students. Counting will be held on September 19, and the results will be declared on the same day.

Largest Number of Students to Vote to Date

This year, 2.75 lakh students will vote in the DUSU elections. This is considered the largest number to date. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and ballot papers have been arranged according to the student count in the colleges. Each college has been provided with EVMs based on its student population. Colleges with more than six thousand students have been equipped with seven EVMs.

Strict Security Arrangements

In view of the DUSU elections, the Delhi Police have made stringent security arrangements. Police deployment has been increased in both North Campus and South Campus. Police are keeping a close watch on every corner of the college campuses. Only students with valid ID cards are being allowed entry. Students are permitted to enter the campus only after thorough checking.

Atmosphere in North Campus

A crowd of students was observed since morning in the Arts Faculty area of North Campus. Lines of students were seen here for voting. However, only Law Centre students were granted entry here. The police and college administration are working together to ensure that the voting process remains peaceful and fair.

Voting Process

In this year's DUSU elections, EVMs are being used for the Central Panel, while ballot papers are being used for the College Counselor positions. A total of 195 polling booths have been set up for EVM voting, and 780 booths have been arranged for ballot paper voting. Approximately 700 EVMs have been dispatched for the election.
