India's promising shooter, Elavenil Valarivan, showcased her talent at the Asian Shooting Championship. She enhanced the country's prestige by winning the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship.

Asian Shooting Championship 2025: Continuing her stellar performance, Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan clinched the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event at the 16th Asian Championship on Friday. The 26-year-old player from Tamil Nadu secured the top spot in the final with a score of 253.6.

In this competition, China's Xinlu Peng won the silver medal with 253 points, while Korea's Yunji Kwon (231.2) took the bronze medal. This is Valarivan's first individual medal in this competition; previously, she had won silver and bronze medals in team events.

Elavenil Valarivan's Remarkable Performance

Valarivan displayed her best game in the final, surpassing China's Xinlu Peng (253 points) and Korea's Yunji Kwon (231.2 points) to claim the gold medal. This is Elavenil's first individual medal in this competition. Previously, she had won silver and bronze medals in team events. Valarivan's victory marks India's second senior individual gold medal in the continental competition. Earlier, Anantjeet Singh Naruka secured India's first senior gold in the men's skeet event.

Besides Elavenil, other Indian shooters also performed remarkably in this competition. Mehuli Ghosh secured the fourth position in the final of eight shooters with a score of 208.9. Mehuli was ranked tenth in the qualification round with 630.3 points, but secured a place in the final due to the ranking points of the other two players in the team, Arya Borse (633.2) and Sonam Maskar (630.5).
