Farooq Abdullah: Kashmir Terrorism Linked to Pakistan's Instability

National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has stated that terrorism in Kashmir will not end until the situation in Pakistan improves. The statement has sparked a political uproar.

Jammu-Kashmir: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah is once again in the news for his statement. He recently stated that terrorism in Kashmir cannot end until the situation in Pakistan improves. This statement comes at a time when the central government is claiming to restore peace in the valley.

Accusation of Responsibility on Pakistan

Talking to the media, Farooq Abdullah said that militancy in Kashmir will not end until the situation in Pakistan improves. He bluntly stated, "I claim that terrorism will never end here until our neighboring country and its situation improves." This statement of his has stirred up debate in political circles.

Preparation for August 5 and Security Arrangements

Along with Farooq Abdullah's statement, discussions about security in Jammu and Kashmir have also intensified. On August 5, 2019, the central government revoked Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into two union territories. The administration has further tightened security arrangements in the valley regarding this day.

Recent Figures on Terrorism

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs and media reports, 59 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir since the beginning of 2025. Among them, 31 terrorists were linked to Pakistan, while 28 were local terrorists. These figures indicate that terrorism has not completely ended in the valley, but security forces are continuously taking action.

Pahalgam Attack and Subsequent Action

The Pahalgam attack on April 22 shook the entire nation. In this terrorist attack, 26 innocent civilians were killed. Since then, security forces have retaliated by eliminating 21 terrorists in 6 different encounters. This operation has made it clear that security agencies are fully alert and are taking strict action against terrorism.

Farooq Abdullah's Previous Reactions

Farooq Abdullah had also reacted after the Pahalgam attack. On April 24 and 25, he said that such attacks are against humanity. He appealed to the local people to show solidarity against terror. In discussions with the media between May 1 and 3, he cited the failure of the security and intelligence system as the main reason for this attack.

Demand to Reconsider Indus Waters Treaty

Farooq Abdullah also reacted to the Indian government's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. He said that the government should reconsider this issue. He believed that dialogue is the only way forward in Indo-Pak relations, which can lead to a permanent solution between the two countries.

War is Not a Solution: Farooq Abdullah

During a discussion on Operation Sindoor on May 27, Farooq Abdullah clearly stated that war cannot be a solution to any problem. He said that war only brings destruction and the public has to pay a heavy price for it. According to him, dialogue and mutual understanding can be a permanent solution to problems.
