The alleged circulation of an objectionable social media post has triggered a fresh political controversy in Uttar Pradesh. The matter is reported to be linked to the daughter of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against four individuals and initiated an investigation.
According to police officials, the content shared on social media was examined after a complaint was received. Based on the preliminary inquiry, a case has been registered against four people under various provisions. Cyber and local police teams are investigating the matter, including the origin of the post, its dissemination, and the role of the accounts involved.
Responding to the issue, Om Prakash Rajbhar said that Aditi is like a daughter to him as well, and that any objectionable comment or post against any daughter is unacceptable. He said such matters should be handled with sensitivity and responsibility.
However, Rajbhar also stated that political parties should engage in self-reflection before making allegations against others. He remarked that everyone should “look into their own collar” before accusing others. His statement has since prompted political reactions.
Following the emergence of the case, leaders from various political parties have criticised the practice of targeting women and family members on social media. Several leaders said that political differences may exist, but it is inappropriate to drag the families or children of any political leader into controversies.
The Uttar Pradesh Police said the matter is being investigated impartially. If any additional individual or social media account is found to have been involved in spreading the content, legal action may also be taken against them.
Amid the growing influence of social media, such incidents have also raised questions about online conduct and digital responsibility. Experts say that along with freedom of expression, compliance with the law and social norms is also necessary.
The case remains under investigation, and police are collecting digital evidence. It will become clear only after the investigation is completed who created the alleged objectionable post, who shared it, and what the motive behind it was.
Police noted that the registration of an FIR does not constitute proof of the allegations. The investigation is ongoing, and final conclusions will emerge only after the relevant investigative agencies complete their work and the judicial process takes its course.
