Gold and silver prices declined in India on Thursday, April 9, amid global economic signals and changes in domestic demand. Both precious metals showed weakness from the start of trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), leading to increased activity in the bullion market.
Gold futures decline on MCX
In the domestic futures market, gold and silver prices fell at the start of trading on Thursday, April 9. On MCX, gold futures with a June 5, 2026 expiry were trading lower by around ₹420. The decline is attributed to weakness in global gold prices and a slowdown in domestic demand.
Gold futures for June 5, 2026 expiry opened lower on MCX. The metal fell by around ₹420 to open at ₹1,50,647 per 10 grams. During the session, gold rose to a high of ₹1,51,452 but later declined to trade near ₹1,51,357. This reflects a decline of about 0.28 percent. In the previous trading session, gold had closed at ₹1,51,776, indicating selling pressure in the market.
Silver falls by up to ₹2,710
Silver prices recorded a sharper decline than gold. On MCX, silver futures with a May 5, 2026 expiry were trading lower by around ₹2,710 or 1.13 percent. The metal opened the day at ₹2,35,850 per kilogram and rose to an intraday high of ₹2,37,589 before declining sharply.
