Power supply in multiple areas of Darbhanga will remain suspended for three and a half hours today as part of a scheduled shutdown for maintenance and technical work, affecting residents in around 50 villages.
The electricity department has announced that the outage has been planned to carry out maintenance and technical upgrades aimed at improving the stability and reliability of future power supply.
According to officials, areas connected to the Raiyam feeder and the Ghosrama-Hayaghat Power Sub Station (PSS) will experience a complete power shutdown during the specified period. The department stated that persistent technical issues had been reported in these areas, necessitating the maintenance work.
During the shutdown, teams will conduct inspection and repair of power lines and equipment. This includes replacing worn-out wires, fixing loose connections, and carrying out a comprehensive examination of the feeder line.
Officials also said that potential fault-prone locations will be identified so that preventive repairs can be carried out in advance to avoid future disruptions.
The outage is expected to affect domestic consumers, agricultural activities, and small businesses. In rural areas, where residents depend on electricity for daily tasks, routine work may be disrupted for the duration of the shutdown.
The absence of electricity during the summer season may also cause inconvenience to residents.
Local residents said that the temporary disruption would be acceptable if it leads to improved power supply after the maintenance work. However, they have requested that the department provide clear prior notice for such shutdowns to help them plan their daily activities.
The electricity department has advised people to handle electrical appliances carefully during the shutdown and avoid any interference with power lines. It added that the restoration of supply after the work will be carried out in phases to prevent technical issues.
Officials said that teams are fully prepared and working to complete the maintenance within the scheduled time, after which power supply is expected to be restored.
