Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh — Police have busted a large corrupt network, filing a case against 5 accused under the Gangster Act. This gang was involved in organized animal smuggling, active not only in Gorakhpur but also in surrounding districts.
What Happened — Sequence of Events
The mastermind of this gang is Rohit Gaud, a resident of Gudri village in the Tamkuhi Raj area of Kushinagar district. The scope of the case was brought to the attention of Khorabar Police Station — where the involvement of these accused had previously surfaced in a case registered in 2024.
Based on the active involvement of the accused and concrete evidence, the police prepared a dossier and sent it to the District Magistrate (DM). After receiving permission, an FIR was registered under the Gangster Act. Other accused involved in the arrests include Mohammed Wasim, Mohammed Junaid, Suraj alias Raj, and Mukesh Kumar. All of them were already connected to several cases in various police stations.
Further Action and Impact
Government / Police claim: The properties of the accused will also be confiscated. This step sends a clear message that strict control will now be exercised over animal smuggling and organized crime.
The question arises — is this an incidental action, or will the roots of the real network be left untouched?
