Gorakhpur, December 25, 2025: Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University has approved an increase in the honorarium and salaries of subject experts and contract teachers. The decision was made during a meeting of the university's finance committee, providing experts with greater financial incentives than before.
The honorarium for subject experts in the departments of Agriculture, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Hotel Management will now be a maximum of ₹40,000 or ₹750 per lecture. Previously, this was ₹600 per lecture (with a maximum of ₹31,000).
Salaries for self-financed contract teachers have been increased by three to six percent. Teachers with more than three years of service will be eligible for a six percent increase, while other teachers will receive a three percent increase. The university has also created 28 new positions for Assistant Professors and four for Associate Professors (contractual), which will strengthen academic and research activities.
The fee structure for MPharm and MTech courses has been finalized, and fee regulations for practical and non-practical subjects for PhD programs have also been established.
The finance committee approved proposals totaling approximately ₹9 crore.
University administration stated that the decision was taken with the aim of enhancing academic quality and encouraging specialist teachers.
