Gorakhpur Voter List Purged Ahead of Panchayat Elections

Gorakhpur has removed over 181,000 voters from its list ahead of the upcoming Panchayat elections to ensure a fair and transparent process. Learn about the voter list revision and key dates.

Gorakhpur has completed a special verification of the voter list as part of preparations for the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections, resulting in the removal of 1,81,677 voters from the list. The majority of these removals were due to duplicate or inconsistent entries, which were eliminated to ensure the accuracy of the electoral process.

During the verification process, a significant number of voters were removed across various blocks in the district. Specifically, the areas of Uruwa, Gagha, Badhalganj, Khorabar, and Khajni witnessed the largest reductions.

The revised voter list will be published on December 23, 2025. Following this, objections from voters will be accepted from December 24th to 30th, and the process of adding new voters will also be completed.

Election officials state that this step has been taken to make the upcoming Panchayat elections transparent and fair, ensuring that only genuine and eligible voters are included in the final list.
