A woman was allegedly beaten to death with a grinding stone in Gorakhpur, with police registering an FIR against nine people, including her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law.
The incident triggered tension in the area, drawing a large crowd to the scene. The victim’s family accused her in-laws of murdering her.
According to available information, the woman had been involved in a long-running dispute with her in-laws. Reports also indicated ongoing tension and conflicts within the family. On the day of the incident, the woman was found in critical condition and was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
During the investigation, police found that the victim’s two-and-a-half-year-old son was present inside the house at the time of the incident. Investigators believe the child could become an important witness in the case.
Although the child is very young, investigating agencies are attempting to understand the sequence of events based on his behaviour and surrounding circumstances. Experts said the presence of children in such cases can provide important indications during investigations.
Police and forensic teams reached the scene after receiving information about the incident. Evidence was collected from the house, and suspected objects used in the killing are being examined.
The victim’s family alleged that she had been subjected to harassment for a long time. They demanded strict action against the accused and justice in the case.
Police officials said the matter is being investigated seriously. Further action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report and forensic examination.
The crime has once again raised concerns over domestic violence and women’s safety. Social organisations have also demanded an impartial investigation and strict action in the case.
Police are currently examining the role of all the accused and investigating every aspect linked to the case.
