In Gurugram, a minor dispute on August 14 escalated into a deadly incident. 19-year-old laborer Umesh allegedly pushed his colleague Pappu Kumar (35) from the third floor over an argument about spilled food, resulting in his death. The accused has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Gurugram: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Gurugram, an industrial city in Haryana. On the night of August 14, a minor quarrel at an under-construction building in Gandhi Nagar Colony took a horrific turn. Here, a 19-year-old youth murdered his 35-year-old colleague. The Gurugram police have arrested the accused, who had been absconding since the incident, based on technical and intelligence investigation.
Anger Ignited by an Argument
According to the preliminary investigation by the police, the deceased, Pappu Kumar (35), was a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh and worked as a laborer in Gurugram. He was working at an under-construction building in Gandhi Nagar with his fellow laborers, Umesh and Rajesh.
On the night of the incident, the laborers were eating their meal together. During this time, an argument broke out between Pappu and Umesh over spilled food. As the situation escalated, Rajesh tried to intervene, and the situation temporarily calmed down. However, Pappu, in anger, went up to the third floor.
Pappu Dies After Falling from the Third Floor
A short while later, Umesh also followed him upstairs. According to the police, the two again got into an argument, and in a fit of rage, Umesh pushed Pappu. Pappu sustained severe injuries from the fall from the third floor and died on the spot.
Following this incident, panic erupted among the other laborers working at the building. Local residents and the police were immediately informed about the event.
Arrest of the Accused
After the incident, Umesh fled the scene. Pappu's younger brother filed a complaint at the Shivaji Nagar police station, based on which the police registered a murder case.
The Gurugram police formed a special team to investigate the seriousness of the case. According to the police spokesperson, the accused had been hiding in various areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to evade arrest. However, he was eventually apprehended based on technical surveillance and human intelligence inputs.
Police officials stated that Umesh is being interrogated thoroughly and will be presented in court to be taken on police remand. In his preliminary interrogation, the accused has confessed to his crime.
Chaos in the Family
The deceased Pappu's family is in shock due to this incident. The family members have demanded strict action against the accused. They stated that Pappu worked hard to support his family and his untimely death has plunged the entire family into deep crisis.
Villagers also expressed outrage over the incident, calling the murder over a trivial matter extremely shameful for society. They have demanded that the guilty be given the harshest possible punishment so that such incidents do not occur in the future.
Police Investigation Continues
The police are also trying to ascertain if anyone else was involved at the time of the incident. However, the initial investigation has clarified that the pushing incident occurred due to a personal dispute between Umesh and Pappu.
Gurugram Police commented that minor disputes often occur among people living in labor colonies and construction sites, but this incident serves as an example of the horrifying consequences that even a small act of rage can lead to.
