Hardik Singh Declares India's Hockey Dominance Over Pakistan: 'No Match at This Moment'

Indian hockey star midfielder Hardik Singh challenged Pakistan in a statement on Friday, stating clearly that currently, Pakistan is no match for India in hockey. This remark sparked significant discussion regarding the hockey traditions and recent performances of India and Pakistan.

IND vs PAK: Star hockey midfielder Hardik Singh stated on Friday that, similar to cricket, Pakistan is no match for India in hockey. The Pakistani team, once considered a hockey giant, won four Olympic gold medals, while India has been an eight-time Olympic champion. In recent years, India has demonstrated its strength by winning bronze medals in two consecutive Olympics, whereas Pakistan hockey has been in a continuous state of decline.

India-Pakistan's Historic Rivalry in Hockey

Once, Pakistan was considered a giant in the world of hockey. The Pakistani hockey team has won four Olympic gold medals. Meanwhile, India has established itself as a global hockey superpower by winning eight Olympic golds. However, in recent years, India has made a comeback in hockey. After winning bronze medals in two consecutive Olympics, the Indian team has proven its strength and stability. On the other hand, Pakistan hockey is on a path of decline.

Hardik Singh's Statement

Hardik Singh stated at the ‘India Today Conclave’, "I think there is no competition at this moment, so it's useless to talk about it. There is a huge difference between the two teams. Their players are good, but they are not getting the facilities. He further added that the Indian team has defeated Pakistan in hockey over the last twelve years. Hardik recalled that Pakistan last beat India in 2014, and since then, India has consistently defeated them."

Pakistan did not participate in the Asia Cup Hockey Tournament 2025, which was held in August-September in Rajgir, Bihar. India won that tournament and qualified for the Hockey World Cup next year in August, to be held in the Netherlands and Belgium.
