Haryana Government Announces Comprehensive Flood Relief Package for Farmers and Affected Citizens

Farmers and citizens affected by floods in Haryana have received significant relief. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced compensation of up to Rs 15,000 per acre, financial assistance for house and livestock loss, and the launch of an e-compensation portal.

Haryana Flood: Recent heavy rains and floods in Haryana have disrupted people's lives. Reports of waterlogging, crop damage, and destruction of houses have emerged from several districts. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited the affected areas, assessed the situation, and reviewed relief efforts. He clearly stated that the state government would not let any affected person be deprived of assistance.

Major Relief for Farmers

The Chief Minister announced that farmers affected by the floods would be compensated for crop losses. They will receive compensation of up to Rs 15,000 per acre. For this, the E-Compensation Portal has been launched, where farmers can register their damaged crops by September 15. So far, more than 1 lakh 69 thousand farmers have registered crop losses covering approximately 10 lakh acres.

Houses and Infrastructure Will Also Be Compensated

Many houses were destroyed or partially damaged due to the floods. The Chief Minister stated that all such houses would be surveyed, and their losses would be compensated.

  1. For a completely damaged house, Rs 1.20 lakh will be provided in the plains and Rs 1.30 lakh in the hilly areas.
  2. For a partially damaged pucca (concrete) house, Rs 10,000 will be given, and for a kachha (mud/thatched) house, Rs 5,000 will be provided.
  3. The government will also compensate for the loss of shops and small industries.

Relief Camps and Medical Arrangements

The government has set up 376 relief camps and 135 medical camps in the affected areas. Teams of doctors have been deployed to minimize the risk of any epidemic or disease. Temporary shelters have been arranged for those who have lost their homes.

12 People Dead So Far Due to Floods

The Chief Minister informed that 12 people have died so far in incidents of floods and house collapses in Haryana. These include 3 each in Fatehabad and Bhiwani, 2 each in Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar, and 1 each in Hisar and Faridabad. The government has provided financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh per person to the families of the deceased.

Special Provisions for Farmers and Livestock Owners

  • Farmers will receive Rs 7,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre for crop loss exceeding 10 percent.
  • Compensation of Rs 37,500 will be given for the death of milch animals like cows, buffaloes, and she-camels.
  • Rs 4,000 will be provided for sheep, goats, and pigs, and compensation for non-lactating animals like camels, horses, and bullocks will be Rs 32,000.
  • Assistance of up to Rs 10,000 will be given for losses in poultry farming.

MLAs and Ministers to Contribute One Month's Salary

The Chief Minister stated that all MLAs and ministers will contribute one month's salary to the flood relief fund. He also appealed to officers and employees to contribute to the relief fund. Rs 3 crore 6 lakh has been allocated as a reserve fund to districts for immediate relief operations.

Haryana to Also Help Neighboring States

CM Saini informed that the Haryana government had already provided assistance of Rs 5 crore each to Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Now, Himachal Pradesh will also receive assistance of Rs 5 crore. He said that it is our responsibility to stand with neighboring states in times of crisis.

Seva Pakhwara Campaign

The Chief Minister announced that 'Seva Pakhwara' (Service Fortnight) will be celebrated across the state from September 17 to October 2. Under this campaign, MLAs, workers, and officials will assist flood-affected people and participate in public welfare activities.

Complete Details of Relief Amount

  • In case of death – Rs 4 lakh
  • Loss of limb (40-60%) – Rs 74,000
  • Loss of limb (more than 60%) – Rs 2.5 lakh
  • Completely damaged house – Rs 1.20 to Rs 1.30 lakh
  • Partial damage – Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000
  • For loss of shops and industries – Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3.5 thousand
  • Crop loss – Rs 7,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre
  • Livestock loss – Rs 4,000 to Rs 37,500
