Henley Passport Index 2025: The Henley Passport Index 2025 report has ranked the Pakistani passport among the weakest in the world. According to the report, Pakistani citizens can travel to only 32 countries without a visa. Pakistan is placed alongside countries like Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Somalia, where visa-free access is extremely limited. However, Pakistan's ranking has slightly improved, now standing at 96th.
What is the Passport Index?
The Henley Passport Index analyzes the passports of 199 countries and 227 travel destinations. This index determines the number of countries a passport provides visa-free access, visa on arrival, e-visa, or entry based on a travel permit. Passports that allow holders to travel to more countries without a visa are considered more powerful.
Pakistan's Situation and Comparison with Neighboring Countries
According to the 2025 report, Pakistan's passport ranks 96th. This allows visa-free travel to only 32 countries. In the 2024 report, Pakistan was ranked 98th, indicating a slight improvement, but the situation remains critical. Pakistan shares its ranking with Somalia and Yemen. Meanwhile, Afghanistan remains the weakest passport, ranked 99th.
Other Countries with Weak Passports
The list of weakest passports includes countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Somalia. Additionally, countries like Nepal, Libya, Bangladesh, Palestine, North Korea, Sudan, Iran, Sri Lanka, and DR Congo are also on the list, whose passport holders have access to visa-free travel in a limited number of countries.

Improvement in India's Ranking
There is good news for India in the Henley Passport Index 2025 report. India has jumped eight places in the last six months. In the 2024 report, India was ranked 85th, while now it has reached 77th position. This improvement means that Indian citizens can now travel to more countries with visa-free or visa-on-arrival facilities than before.
Decline in the Ranking of the United States and the United Kingdom
While India's position has improved, the ranking of countries like the United States and the United Kingdom has gradually declined. The United States has now reached 10th position, and the United Kingdom is in 6th position. In 2014, the United States topped this list, and in 2015, the United Kingdom secured the first position. Now, limitations in visa access are visible for these countries.
