Himachal Pradesh Leaders Unite to Seek Relief for Seraj Disaster Victims

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur to jointly visit Delhi to seek special relief package for those affected by the Seraj disaster.

Himachal Pradesh: Following the recent natural disaster in the Seraj assembly constituency of Himachal Pradesh, the situation has become extremely serious. In this time of crisis, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur have decided to work together to expedite relief efforts and seek a special relief package from the central government. Both leaders will soon visit Delhi together to appeal for assistance from the central government.

Agreement Reached in Thunag

This agreement was reached during a meeting held in Thunag late Wednesday evening. In the meeting, the Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, along with administrative officials, reviewed the disaster relief operations. Officials from the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, Electricity Department, and Revenue Department were also present at the meeting. All departments were instructed to work rapidly at their respective levels.

Joint Visit and Relief Review

Before the meeting, Chief Minister Sukhu, Union Minister JP Nadda, and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur toured the disaster-affected areas throughout the day. They listened to the problems of the people and reviewed the arrangements in the relief camps. Emphasis was laid on the early restoration of basic facilities like roads, electricity, and water.

Special Emphasis on Priority Works

The Public Works Department has been instructed to provide a detailed account of the damage within a week. The Jal Shakti Department has been asked to prioritize drinking water schemes. Areas like Janjehli and Pandavshila are still in darkness, and they will be connected to the electricity supply soon.

Road to be Included in Major Project

It has been announced that the Chalchowk-Janjehli road will be included as a major project. The aim is to strengthen and widen the road to provide smooth transportation facilities to the people.

Chief Minister Sukhu said that the continuous rainfall in the Seraj area is a matter of concern. A scientific and long-term strategy should be formulated to deal with such disasters. This is not just a time for immediate relief, but also for future preparedness.

Strict Instructions Given to Administration

During his meeting with the family of the deceased Budhi Ram, the Chief Minister instructed the administration to provide compensation quickly. He asked for a report after completing the verification of vehicle documents. Jairam Thakur also reiterated the release of insurance money soon.

Chief Minister Appreciates the Employees

The Chief Minister praised the officers and employees of the Public Works Department engaged in relief work. He said that the team is working with dedication and commitment even in difficult circumstances.

Reaching the Victims by Walking Through Mud

In Thunag, the Chief Minister himself walked through two to four feet deep mud to meet the affected people. He spoke directly with shopkeepers and ordinary citizens, learned about their problems, and assured them of all possible assistance. Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur was also with him during this time, and he also met the people of the area.
