Political Crisis in Himachal Pradesh: Speculation Mounts Over Minister Chandra Kumar's Resignation. Son Neeraj Bharti Accuses Congress Government of Working Through Brokers. Situation Remains Unclear.
Himachal: Himachal Pradesh's political landscape is witnessing significant turmoil. The Congress government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, faces another political challenge. Speculation is rife regarding the potential resignation of Chaudhary Chandra Kumar, the state's Animal Husbandry Minister and senior leader. This development stems from a social media post by his son and former MLA, Neeraj Bharti.
Neeraj Bharti's Strong Claim
In his social media post, former MLA Neeraj Bharti claimed that his father and Minister Chandra Kumar are about to resign. He accused the Congress government of operating through brokers, a practice he deemed against the spirit of democracy and good governance. He stated that there was no point in remaining a minister if one had to work through brokers.
Subsequent Retraction
However, later that evening, Neeraj Bharti made another post stating that Chandra Kumar had received assurances and would now meet Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to discuss the matter. This post indicates that the situation remains unclear, and the final decision regarding the minister's resignation will be made only after discussions with the Chief Minister.
Chandra Kumar's Presence with the Chief Minister
Interestingly, on the day the post surfaced, Chandra Kumar was attending various government programs in Shimla's Shilai and Theog alongside Chief Minister Sukhu. This suggests that the minister was fulfilling his duties, and the resignation did not appear imminent at that time.
Past Criticism of the Government
This is not the first instance of Chandra Kumar questioning the Congress organization or the government. Earlier, when the party organization in the state was not being reorganized, he publicly stated that the Congress in Himachal Pradesh was "paralyzed." This statement created an uncomfortable situation for the Congress leadership.
Who is Chandra Kumar?

He has contested nine elections, winning six and becoming a Member of the Legislative Assembly. He has also served as a Lok Sabha MP.
