Shimla: Industrialization in Himachal Pradesh is set to gain new momentum. In the state's new industrial area, Waknaghat, the Industries Department has completed the plot allotment process. Several units from the pharma and manufacturing sectors are being established here. Specifically, the production of medicines and components will take place here, which will not only strengthen the state's economy but also provide new employment opportunities for the youth.
Development of Basic Facilities
The establishment of the Waknaghat industrial area will provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of youths. Along with job creation, this area will significantly contribute to Himachal's economy. The Industries Department believes that as more units commence operations here, the state's unemployment rate will decrease. Young people will now be able to find employment locally, eliminating the need for them to migrate to other states.
The Industries Department has equipped this industrial area with improved facilities. Road access to the plots has been enhanced to ensure smooth movement of goods. Streetlights have been installed in the area to guarantee both safety and convenience. Special attention has been given to infrastructure development to facilitate large-scale industrial activities here in the future.
Seven Industrialists Purchased Plots
So far, seven industrialists have purchased plots in the Waknaghat industrial area. Among these, four units have already commenced production, while another industry has established its unit and will begin production within the next month. Work on establishing units on the remaining plots is also progressing rapidly. The industries set up here will manufacture not only medicines but also components. This will enable Waknaghat to establish its identity not just at the state level but also nationally and internationally.
In its first phase, the Waknaghat industrial area has been developed with 23 plots. According to the Industries Department, almost all of these plots have been allotted. Some companies have acquired more than one plot, keeping their production capacity in mind.
