Monsoon Intensifies Across India: Heavy Rainfall and Warnings Issued

The monsoon has gained momentum across the country, bringing heavy rainfall to various regions, from Bihar and Bengal to Kashmir and Kanyakumari. This has provided significant relief from the intense heat and humidity that people have been experiencing.

Weather: The monsoon has fully accelerated across the country, and the rainfall that began on July 8, 2025, has brought relief from the heat and humidity in many states. However, along with this, the risk of cloudbursts in the hilly areas and waterlogging in low-lying areas has also started to loom. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a clear warning that heavy rainfall will continue in different parts of the country in the coming days, with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in some places.

People in a total of 10 states, from North India to East India and Central India, have been advised to be cautious. These include Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh.

Where will there be heavy rainfall in Bihar and UP?

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the districts of Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Aurangabad, and Gopalganj in Bihar during the next 48 hours. During this time, winds may blow at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour, and a lightning warning has also been issued. As for Uttar Pradesh, rain is expected in many places in western UP from July 8 to 10.

There is also a possibility of thundershowers in eastern UP. Although the intensity of the rain is likely to decrease on July 11 and 12, the Meteorological Department has advised maintaining vigilance in both regions.

The weather pattern has also changed in Central and Eastern India

Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue in Madhya Pradesh from July 8 to 13. In Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh, there will be rain along with b winds and the danger of lightning from July 8 to 10. In addition, good rainfall is expected in the Gangetic areas of West Bengal on July 8, and in sub-Himalayan Bengal and Sikkim on July 8, 9, 12, and 13.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in Jharkhand and Odisha in the next two to three days. The IMD has appealed to farmers and local residents in these areas to keep an eye on the weather information and stay in safe places.

Alert in Northwest India, fear of cloudbursts in the mountains

Heavy rainfall may occur in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and western Uttar Pradesh from July 8 to 13. The Meteorological Department has warned that the possibility of cloudbursts in some areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal cannot be ruled out. There is also a forecast of heavy rainfall in eastern Rajasthan for the next few days. Very heavy rainfall may be recorded in some areas from July 8 to 10, which could lead to waterlogging or flooding in low-lying areas.

The Meteorological Department has clearly stated that b thunderstorms and lightning can occur in many states, which can cause loss of life and property. Especially in rural areas, people are advised not to stand under trees and to be cautious while living in kutcha houses. In addition, farmers have also been alerted regarding the maintenance of their crops to prevent the irregularity of rainfall from affecting the Kharif cultivation.
