Statement of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that approximately 2.4 crore people travel by Indian Railways every day. The safety of passengers is our top priority. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to install CCTV cameras in every compartment and engine so that the journey can be safe and convenient. This initiative has been started on a pilot basis in Northern Railway and is being implemented across the country after seeing its positive results.

Indian Railways is counted among the largest rail networks in the world. More than 13,000 trains run daily. This includes mail/express, passenger, and suburban trains.
